Espresso

Getting Started

Quick and concentrated, espresso is a lifestyle. All the best flavors of the coffee are amplified and you’re 100% ready to tackle your day.

What you'll need

  • Single Espresso Shot 15 grams of coffee

We recommend starting with a brew ratio of 1:2. For example, if your input is 15 grams, you would be looking for 30 grams of output.

1

Grind your coffee

After taring your scale with the portafilter on it, grind espresso into the basket using a Fine Grind setting.

Tip: For best results, wipe the portafilter basket dry with a clean cloth before grinding.

2

Weigh your input

Weigh the input (or dry grounds) that are in your portafilter basket. The amount of grounds that you are aiming for will ultimately depend on the size of your basket - see your home espresso machine manual for more information.

3

Tamp

Evenly tamp your espresso grounds.

4

Brew

Insert the portafilter into the espresso machine and start brewing!

5

Weigh your output

Weighing or measuring the volume of your output (amount of brewed espresso) will help you better understand your brew ratio.
